Key Findings & Highlights:

Safeguard Global is a global provider of payroll and employer of record services. It has two divisions:

  • Global managed payroll services, with ~504 clients, servicing ~201k employees across 134 countries
  • Global employment outsourcing and accounting services, including employer of record (EOR) services.

Safeguard Global offers fully managed payroll services across ~170 countries. It supports visibility to global payroll services through its proprietary platform, Global Unity. It has the following payroll models:

  • Payroll managed services delivered with integration to the Client HRIS, known as Payroll 360. For buyers with a global Workday HRIS platform and where in-country partners can’t be transitioned, Safeguard Global Workday integrations are also offered, enabling all client countries to be managed in the Global Unity platform. This is referred to as Workday Connector
  • Payroll managed services with no HRIS integration, known as Payroll Express.

Its founders have a background in U.K. domestic payroll services. In 2009, they identified opportunities with buyers and partners seeking to solve the challenge of hiring in-country workers where the client had no legal entities, and time was a critical factor. Safeguard Global also identified U.S. domestic PEO organizations seeking international solutions. In 2010, it became a Workday partner and began offering certified integrations to the cloud HCM platform. Its EOR commenced with the acquisition of Global Upside in 2022, primarily as an add-on service for its managed payroll clients.
