It was initially formed in 2009 as Contractor Taxation an aggregator of Contractor Management and Employer of Record  services, which it continues to provide today under a separate entity called ContractorTaxation.com. Due to increasing demand from its contractor taxation aggregation services client base, it began providing what is now referred to as 'Global Employer of Record' services for a small set of clients from 2013 under the newly established Shield GEO entity. In 2015 Shield GEO began scaling its global employer of record services and has achieved an entirely organic growth since its inception.

Shield GEO offers a comprehensive set of services in support of firms seeking compliant global expansion, including:

  • Global employer of record services (all in service model):
    • Provides a local employment contract between client and worker, which ensures compliance with local employment laws, and transfers the worker to a Shield GEO business entity within country
    • Consulting and advisory for global expansion
    • Core HR data management
    • Workforce management (time and attendance)
    • Payroll processing including shadow payrolls where required
    • Benefits administration (including support for benefit/pension providers in each country)
    • Travel and expense management
    • HR consultancy and management.
