CSC is one of a number of BPS vendors analyzed in this comprehensiveindustry analysis.
Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), founded in 1959 and listed on the NYSE in 1968, has been a long time player in healthcare IT services in the U.S. and the U.K. As of May 2016, CSC agreed to merge with the Enterprise Services (ES) unit of HPE, with CSC taking effective control of HPE ES. The new company which will drive cost synergies from datacenter and delivery center consolidation, real estate consolidation and further offshoring, could also have some potential healthcare synergies take place.
CSC’s capabilities in the healthcare sector are primarily in the U.S., U.K., and Australia. The launch in July 2011 of its Global Institute for Emerging Healthcare Practices (to monitor healthcare practices, conduct regional and multi-country studies, and evaluate practices and technologies) indicates an intention to grow its geographical coverage.
In terms of healthcare provider BPS activity, CSC is a fairly recent entrant in this market; it entered the U.K. in 2015 and the U.S. in March 2016. As of August 2016, CSC has four healthcare provider BPS clients, three in the U.S. and one in the U.K.
