Key Findings & Highlights:

Mindtree is a Bangalore and Warren, NJ co-headquartered IT and product engineering services (PES) vendor (PES is referred to by Mindtree as high tech services). It was formed in 1999 as a consulting-led internet, application development and product engineering services firm. Because of its background in internet application development projects, Mindtree derives a large share of its revenues from digital transformation/SMAC (~36% in Q3 FY 2016).

The profile of the testing practice of Mindtree has evolved in the past years. Pre-2008, Mindtree’s testing unit focused on providing testing services to the enterprise market. The 2008 acquisition of Aztecsoft, a specialist in software product engineering and independent testing services, brought in expertise around portals and web technologies, mobility solutions, .Net, J2EE, and open source technologies. Aztecsoft doubled Mindtree’s testing headcount to ~2k. Today, Mindtree’s testing unit derives half of its revenues from enterprise clients (with its largest sectors being travel and transportation, financial services, and media), and half from technology vendors.

Over the past two years, Mindtree has refocused its commercial activity towards large managed testing service contracts, focusing on clients in its core verticals, for increasing share of wallet, and pursuing new opportunities in Europe. In the past year, under new management, Mindtree’s testing practice has maintained this focus while further investing in its service portfolio around four main elements: digital and DevOps, data and analytics, ERP, and product engineering services.
