Key Findings & Highlights:

GEP is a provider of strategic and managed procurement services and procurement software founded in 1999 (as Global e-Procure) by four former consultants from Accenture and AT Kearney, starting out as a strategic sourcing consulting firm.

The company also developed SaaS tools for eRFX, auction management and supplier management in support of service delivery, and by 2004 was taking these to market as standalone offerings.

GEP then added managed services to its portfolio. By 2006, its offerings spanned consulting, software and procurement BPO, from sourcing to transactional processing.

In 2012, GEP acquired Enporion, a small firm (~23 employees) which brought in sourcing and procurement capabilities in the energy & utilities sector, with 11 clients including Duke Energy.

GEP developed its proprietary IP as a separate business unit with its own personnel, target market and pricing models. The SMART by GEP source to pay (S2P) cloud platform suite, built on Microsoft Azure, was launched in 2014.

GEP provides services to clients through the As-A-Service model, including Spend Analysis, Sourcing Support, RFx and Auction Services, Contract Management/Contracting, Order Processing, Spot Buying, Supplier Data Management, Catalog Management, P-Card Management, Supplier Performance Management, Savings and Compliance Tracking, among others.

SMART by GEP is GEP’s cloud-native, source-to-pay procurement software platform sourcing and procurement capabilities, including spend analysis, sourcing, contract management, supplier management, procure-to-pay, savings project management and savings tracking, invoicing and other related functionalities. SMART by GEP is an open platform, designed for integration with SAP, Lawson, Oracle or any other major ERP or F&A systems, and emerging technologies, such as RPA, AI, IoT, and blockchain.
